The maximum fee is £29.65, and a car garage without the bike authorisation cannot test one, however willing.

What the test covers
A bike test checks brakes, steering and suspension, tyres and wheels, lights, the exhaust and noise, the frame, the drive chain and the horn. It takes 30 to 40 minutes. Sidecars are tested as part of the bike. The most common bike failures are lights, tyres and brakes, in that order, and all three can be checked at home the day before.
Before booking, a free MOT history check on the bike shows what the tester noted last time.
